Content guidelines library

Hi everyone!

We really appreciate all the love, passion, and effort that goes into your Dawnwalker-inspired creations – The Blood of Dawnwalker is yet to be released, and you already amaze us with your support!

We’ve put together these guidelines to support you in creating all these wonderful things – going into more detail about what kind of content you can make (spoiler alert: almost everything!), what to remember about when creating and sharing it, and what we kindly ask you not to do – to protect you, our game, and us as a studio.

– Dawnwalker Team

First things first: we’re happy for you to make nearly any kind of content – sky is the limit! This includes:

  • drawing digital or physical fanart involving our characters or any other world elements,

  • creating cosplay props and cosplaying characters from our games,

  • creating funny memes and jokes,

  • taking screenshots of our game (we love virtual photography!)

  • creating videos such as lore deep dives, playthroughs, walkthroughs, Let’s Play videos, achievement guides, video reviews, etc.

  • streaming our game live to your community,

  • making covers of our music,

  • writing fanfics,

  • creating community websites, fanpages, or news groups,

  • creating software that works alongside our game, like overlay software,

  • designing wallpapers (for your PC or for your room),

  • creating mods for the game,

  • and more!

For all these purposes, you can use content from our game (be it music, art, gameplay, or anything else), and you can publish it on social media and various sharing platforms. However, no matter what you create, we ask that you follow a few golden rules:

1. Don’t use it commercially.

Please don’t use content from our game or content based on our game for any commercial purposes.

What does it mean? You’re not allowed to make things for sale or have them behind any kind of paywall (e.g. content only available to paid subscribers).

However, we’re cool with you monetising your videos, music covers, and streams via the YouTube and Twitch partner programs (plus other similar video/stream sharing site programs). We also don't mind if you raise donations during your streams or support yourself financially, as a creator, via a crowdfunding platform.

2. Stay in the Dawnwalker universe.

Please don’t incorporate content from our game or content based on our game into third-party games or products, no matter if it’s for commercial purposes or not.

Avoid using content from our game in videos and streams that aren’t actually related to our games in any way (e.g. don’t use our cinematics to illustrate another music video, or use our music or art as a background to someone else’s product). And please don’t make video games or mobile apps that use, are related to, or are based on our game.

3. Label your content as ‘unofficial’.

When publishing your content on social media, YouTube, Twitch, or any other sharing platform, please avoid doing anything that might suggest your content is official or endorsed by us (e.g. don’t say it’s official, add our logos, or mimic our official content).

When it comes to community-run websites or fanpages, please make sure that the domains do not include any of our game or company names, trademarks, or anything similar, and that they are marked as “unofficial community content”.

4. Keep it legal and respectful.

When creating content, always stay within the law and treat others with respect. Do not create anything that insults or attacks other players, communities, or games. Never include content that is racist, xenophobic, sexist, defamatory, illegal, or otherwise offensive. Ensure your creations do not violate copyright, trademarks, or any other rights of others (creators of other games, movies, books, TV shows, etc.). Your content should be fun and creative, but always safe, respectful, and legal.

We really appreciate your creativity and love celebrating it! The setup described below lets us share your amazing content with the wider community while respecting your rights as the creator. Here’s how ownership works:

  • Your original work is yours – any original creations you make on your own belong to you.

  • Our game's content belongs to us – the characters, story, game mechanics, music, logos, images, and any other elements from our games are Rebel Wolves’ IP. This means that if you create content based on our games, such as fanart, fanfiction, videos, or mods, you’re creating it based on our IP.

By creating content based on our IP, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license, with the right to sublicense, to use, modify, reproduce, create derivative works, distribute, exploit, transmit, perform, and communicate your content in connection with our games. This might sound serious, but don’t worry! In practice, this license is mostly so we can share your creations on our social media or other channels. If we ever wanted to do more with your work, we would contact you directly first.

These Guidelines are meant to help you understand how to create your content responsibly and respectfully. However, please remember that they don’t override any legal or official documents, especially the End User License Agreement (EULA) that comes with our products - so be sure to check those out too!

We might need to update these guidelines from time to time as people make cool new community content based on our games. Once we change them, the updated version will become legally binding 30 days after we post it online.

If, at any point, something in these guidelines isn’t clear to you, you can get in touch with us at [email protected]. We’ll try to get back to you with answers to your questions or doubts as soon as we can.
